Indian Council for Cultural Relations


The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India organized the monthly Horizon Series Program as well as an Incoming Cultural Delegation from Israel in Guwahati. The Horizon Series program was organized in two phases in Guwahati. The first was presented in collaboration with the Byatikram MASDO Group for the 91st Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika at the Karmashree Hiteshwar Saikia Auditorium, Maligaon on September 8, 2017. The ICCR facilitated with a dance troupe presented by danseuse Marami Bazbaruah and her group, who very gracefully presented classical and creative style dance in relevant to the occasion.

The second phase was organized as the monthly HORIZON SERIES PROGRAMME on September 21, 2017 in collaboration with the Directorate of Museums, Govt. of Assam at the Kanak Lal Barua auditorium at the Assam State Museum, Ambari, Guwahati. The event was a Lecture Demonstration by Bharatnatyam danseuse Bhanu Rashmi who conducted the event upon the aesthetics of dance ‘NRITYA MUDRA’. Y.S. Wunglenton, Director, Assam State Museum, Guwahati graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event also hosted three museum scholars from Meghalaya who was present throughout the event being the Special Guests.The lecture delivered the essence of dance incorporated with beauty and aesthetic implementations from early years till date. The event also showcased some technical Bharatnatyam repertories by the students of Bhanu Rashmi. During the concert, Bhanu also encouraged the spectators to try out some techniques and recite the dance notes (bols) along with her.

The next biggest event organized by ICCR in collaboration with Directorate of Library Services, Govt. of Assam was presenting an international Incoming Cultural Delegation from Israel for rendering Jazz music. The troupe was led by internationally famed YogevShetrit, who is a drummer, music composer and percussionist. His rendition was assisted by Stav Goldberg in Piano and Meni Welt in Bass, wherein the trio played most of the musicals from their newly launched album ‘New Path’. The evening was packed by music lovers and the ambience was all set to move along with the Jazz melodies. This Jazz trio came for the 7th International Jazz Festival 2017, organized by the ICCR, New Delhi that took place in Nehru Park, ChanakyaPuri from September 23rd – 25th.
